QS 2010

QS 2010 ranking (released September 8), places 5 French establishments in the Top 200 world universities: the Ecole Normale Superieure (33th), Ecole Polytechnique (36th), UPMC (118th) , Ecole Normale Superieure-Lyon (139th) and the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne (186th).

UPMC also appears in two thematic rankings: "Life and Medicine" (71st) and "Natural Science" (22nd).

The Anglo-Saxon universities dominate the rankings this year but let's note that Cambridge overtakes Harvard and becomes first on the podium.

British and American institutions still dominate the top 10. The British University of Cambridge, second last year, took the first place, which was held by the American Harvard University since 2004. It falls in second position, followed by Yale and University College of London. MIT moved from the ninth to the fifth place. According to QS, the "bond" reflects "a high performance of technology universities, especially in the survey of employers." The only European university of the top 20, excluding the United Kingdom, is the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Switzerland. The top 100 has 31 U.S. universities, 15 Asian and 41 European, 19 British.
