The ERC Grants Awarded at UPMC

Grants from the European Research Council (ERC)

The ERC is the European funding to encourage basic research designed and conducted by individual researchers to the recognized excellence. Currently, UPMC has nearly twenty brilliant researchers with ERC Starting and Advanced Grants working in its laboratories.

The budget available for subsequent ERC calls is increasing with a higher success rate and a broader range of people admitted to candidature (within 2 to 12 years after their thesis). Successful projects can be awarded up to 2M € over five years (to cover 100 percent of salaries, equipment, consumables, and missions). These grants allow the winners to concentrate on their specific research with their own individual team. The success of such projects has implications for both the researcher's career, the means available to his or her laboratory, and contributes to UPMC's reputation for high-quality research.
