Housing for international researchers

There is a high demand for hosting invited professors and researchers at the University Pierre and Marie Curie. The university therefore provides accommodation to facilitate their stay, as well as the stay of their family, in Paris and in the region of Ile-de-France.

1. UPMC campus accommodation

The University Pierre and Marie Curie has 28 housing units situated at 7, 9 & 11 rue des Fossés St-Bernard in Paris 5th arrondissement. The accommodation consists of:
- 10 studios, 25 m²
- 10 apartments, 31 m ²
- 3 apartments with 2 rooms, 45 m²
- 5 apartments with 3 rooms, 60 m²

The appartments are furnished, equipped and maintained. Some are also adapted for people with disabilities.
The accommodation is managed by the CROUS and works on a hotel based system. The price includes water, electricity, heating, unlimited broadband internet connection and maintenance. Linen is provided and changed. Pets are not permitted.

CROUS is open from Monday to Friday, 10am-5pm.

Professors or researchers invited by a UPMC laboratory can be housed by the university, for a period up to 6 months, NOT RENEWABLE, under the following conditions:
- on completion of an application form which will be attached to the favorable decision for the visit of an invited professor or researcher (at the discretion of the human resources director or the international relations director).

To this purpose, the hosting laboratory is the main contact for the guest to manage the request for accommodation.

Attention: Please note that the housing on the Campus is organized by the Central Service of UPMC. The welcome office is not responsible for the reservations of those appartments.

2. Accommodation in Paris

The Cité universitaire de paris (CIUP)

UPMC has a contingent of rooms and apartments at Cité internationale universitaire  de Paris (CIUP - Boulevard Jourdan, 75014 Paris) available for foreign scientists invited to UPMC laboratories.

1. The interested laboratories at UPMC must fill out a reservation form on the CIUP websiteNouvelle fenêtre.
2. Please recontact Omar DIALLO the contact of UPMC for the CiUP once you have filled out a reservation so that she can validate the file. This validation enables CIUP to know that the researcher will be hosted within a UPMC laboratory. 
3. The CIUP will proceed with the reservation, according to availability and provided that the guarantee deposit (equal to one month’s rent) is paid immediately either by the host laboratory of the invited researcher (by a ‘bon commande’ or a cheque made out to CIUP)
It is important to note that the number of places available is limited, you are strongly recommended to consider alternative accommodation options, especially if your application is not accepted, you are not systematically informed (your application will be kept on a waiting list pending possible withdrawals).

The International Reception Centre “Recollets “

The center offers short- and long-term housing for international researchers and artists. The international relations department of UPMC has  a contingent of 4 apartments that can be rented for one year maximum. Since beginning of 2013, the Centre Recollets only accepts stays for more than three months. The Residence does not house children.

If you are interested in renting housing at the Centre RecolletsNouvelle fenêtre, please send the reservation form to  Omar DIALLO who will then transfer it to the Centre Recollets.

Attention: The appartments at the Cité universitaire are currently filled up until the end of July. You can only send applications from the beginning of August 2014.

The Villa Pasteur

The residence named “Villa Louis Pasteur” is dedicated to housing foreign researchers who have been invited by Parisian research and higher education organizations. It consists of 32 apartments (studios, one and two room apartments between 19,30m² - 34,10m²)  If you are interested in a reservation, please fill out the reservation sheet and send it back to Omar Diallo who will transfer it to the Residence.

Attention: The Residence is currently booked out until the end of June 2014. The Residence is foreseen for individuals and for couples. There are no available places for familites with children.

The Residence CARMES

The residence CARMES is a residence for researchers next to university (Rue des Carmes, 75005 Paris. It has rooms of 12m² with individual bathroomsand kitchen for international researchers. The reservations are organized by the International Relations Office. We offer reservations for 1-6 months. You can recontact Omar DIALLO if you would like to make a reservation.

Please note that the rooms at the Residence CARMES are foreseen for one person only. You cannot rent the rooms as a couple nor house another person.

UPMC has a partnership with the companies Adagio CityNouvelle fenêtre and the CITADINESNouvelle fenêtre. These organisms offer short term and long term housing in Paris and have a special agreement with UPMC. They work on a hotel based system. If you are staying in Paris for some days or weeks, the offered places can be a good alternative to a hotel. The prices per night diminish the longer you stay.

The closest Residences to the Jussieu Campus are the Citadines Residences near Place d'ItalieNouvelle fenêtre and the ADAGIO Residence near Reuilly-Diderot (12e)Nouvelle fenêtre.


Please chose among the residences that belong to Adagio and Citadines and contact Omar DIALLO if you want to make a reservation. She will then ask for available places at the chosen residences.
