Increased and Diversified Vocational Focus to Courses

"The vocational undergraduate courses are integrated within each of our general undergraduate courses," explains Patrick Porcheron, Vice-President of programmes. "All designed as part-time courses with internships, they are considered the qualifying route of these undergraduate courses. Developing internships offers students the opportunity to continue their studies in an environment relevant to their career path and to benefit from an appropriate first work experience. Ninety-four percent of vocational undergraduate degree holders find employment within three months, with a gross average annual salary of €21,000.

The masters, on the other hand, has always been seen as a four-semester training continuum," continues Parick Porcheron. This enables a controlled progression toward a research or vocational-orientated specialisation in the final two semesters. There is no selection barrier within the masters. Preparations for the transition to employment are carried out through general channels at undergraduate and then masters level, business-related conferences, small workshops and professions forums. Every year, 900 students benefit from job-relevant training. These initiatives have overall positive results for the transition of degree holders into employment: out of 2,000 masters degree holders leaving UPMC every year, 60% want to join a company rather than go on to a doctorate. Over 80% of them find a job with a management grade and salary within three months."
