SUGI FROM GATE PROGRAM

 Introduction

GATE (knowledGe mAnagement Technology transfer and Education programme) is an Erasmus Mundus mobility project funded by the European Commission (2012 - 2016). It has provided 103 scholarships to students at all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD, post-doc researchers and staff) from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, India, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam to the European consortium partners. Sugi came to UPMC in the frame of this program as a Staff and was working for the international relations office. She is from Mongolia. We had the pleasure to meet her and to ask her questions about her experience at UPMC.

Questionnary

1) Please, would you describe your first day at UPMC?

The first day at UPMC was definitely one of those good memories of my stay in Paris. Entering through the front gate, I admired the campus structure and the huge administrative building. My coordinator Hanna and her colleague Sarah welcomed me in their office on the 16th floor and they introduced me to all the staff at the International relations department. My first impression of co-workers was great and most of them were energetic young people from diverse cultures. I could feel their positive attitude.

2) Why did you choose UPMC?

UPMC is a well-known university, especially in science studies. It belongs to Sorbonne-Universities and has a good ranking among world universities. As the University of Mongolia, UPMC focuses on research and innovation. It supports scientific researchers and one of its priorities is to value diversity. To me UPMC was the best choice.

3) What is your best Memory at UPMC?

During my stay, I had the chance to be enrolled in French language class for 1 week. I was pleased to learn few sentences and expressions in French. The teachers were very patient and helpful, I learned a lot about French culture.

4) What are your 3 favorite places in Paris?

I would say Louvre museum, Arts and Scientific museum and Notre Dame were good experiences.

5) What did you find the most interesting in Paris?

Everyday life in Paris was the most interesting for me for example going by metro with Parisians, doing outdoor picnics near La Seine or gardens, going to local flea markets and buying baguettes at the Bakery and eating in restaurants. I enjoyed leaving as a true Parisian.
