Taiwan Ranking

Since 2007, the HEEACT, the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan has been offering a world ranking of the 500 best universities based solely on scientific publications.

The data come from the "Science Citation Index" and "Social Science Citation Index" edited by Thomson Reuters, the publisher of the scientific database
Web of Science.
The classification includes eight indicators, divided into three criteria:

- Research productivity (20% of the score): number of articles published over the last 11 years (1999-2009) and number of articles published in 2009;

- Impact of research (30%): number of citations over the past 11 years, the number of citations during the last two years (2008-2009), average number of citations over the past 11 years;

- Research excellence (50%): h-index of the last two years, a number of publications cited in prestigious journals, many articles in the current year in high impact journals.
