SIR 2011

The SIR 2011 ranking by SCImago covers 3,042 institutions (research organizations, universities, academies, hospitals, health and thematic institutes...) with at least 100 articles published in 2009.

The period of investigation covers the years 2005-2009 and is based on indexing the world's scientific publications in the Scopus database.

France occupies the fourth place worldwide in the 2011 edition, after the United States, China and Japan.

UPMC, the first French university ranked, moved up 29 places and comes in 74th position (20,786 publications), behind the CNRS, the French National Center for Scientific Research,(2nd); the Public Assistance Hospitals of Paris (21e); and Inserm, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (60th).

On the world podium, the CNRS dominates the rankings with 130,977 publications.
