QS Top Universities

The British consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published in September 2010 the "QS World University Rankings".

QS, former partner and now rival the Times Higher Education magazine (THE), based his study on six indicators:

  • the peer review through a survey (accounting for 40%);
  • the opinion of recruiters through a survey (accounting for 10%);
  • the ratios of students (accounting for 20%);
  • the number of citations in scientific journals over five years (from the Scopus database), reported to the number of researchers (worth 20%);
  • the rate of international students (up to 5%);
  • the rate of international lecturers (up to 5%).

QS indicates that in 2010, 15,000 academics and 5,000 employers responded to the survey.

QS also offers a list of 100 best universities in five themes: "Arts and Humanities "," Life Sciences and Medicine "," Natural Sciences "," Social Sciences "and" Engineering and Technology ".
