Cédric Villani, Fields medal winner 2010

Cédric Villani works primarily on partial differential equations and mathematical physics. He studied at the École Normale Supérieure from 1992 to 1996, where he was appointed an assistant professor. Cédric Villani received his doctorate at Paris Dauphine University in 1998, under the supervision of Pierre-Louis Lions, and became professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon in 2000. He is now professor at Lyon University of Claude Bernard Lyon I.

He has been the director of the Institut Henri Poincaré (a joint UPMC and CNRS organization) in Paris since 2009.
