Jean-Yves Chemin, French Academy of Science “Grand Prix Servant”

Jean-Yves Chemin, a full professor of UPMC and member of the Jacques-Louis Lions laboratoryNouvelle fenêtre, received the 2012 “Great Servant” Prize.

The French Academy of Science Grand prix Servant is awarded annually, alternately in mathematics or physics. This year, Jean-Yves Chemin is rewarded for his work on Navier Strokes equations.

The professor, who has taught mathematics and their interactions at UPMC since 1993, is specialized in partial differential equations. His favorite working subjects are fluid mechanics, fluid geophysics and non-linear wave equations.

An honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France from 1995 to 2000, he has been the director of the Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris since 2007.
