Thematic Network for Advanced Research (RTRA): Mathematical sciences

The Paris Mathematical Sciences Foundation, created in December 2006, is a network of excellence that is unique in the world in its discipline owing to its size and scientific potential.

It brings together approximately 1,000 scientists from six major research organisations and establishments in Paris – the Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) and Paris Diderot (UPD P7) Universities, the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Paris-Dauphine University and Collège de France.

The foundation covers an exceptionally wide range of scientific fields which includes the most important aspects of cutting edge areas in mathematics and fundamental computer science, from the most abstract theories to the most diversified applications.

The foundation has three main objectives – to support fundamental and applied research, to increase collaboration with the largest scientific institutes in the world and to develop partnerships between public research and private research.’
