Thematic Research and Care Network: PremUP (pregnancy and prematurity)

The PremUP Foundation is a Scientific Cooperative Foundation created by decree on 21 September 2007. The foundation benefits from being a Thematic Research and Care Network (RTRS), created under an act providing the framework for a government programme for research, dated 18 April 2006. The PremUP Foundation is the only Thematic Research and Care Network in France dedicated to pregnant women and new-born babies.

Its objectives are to support quality and innovative research, prevent premature birth and protect premature new-born babies from brain and pulmonary developmental anomalies.

 

UPMC is represented in this foundation by the following laboratories:

 - Mixed Research Unit S 149 of the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) and UPMC ‘Epidemiological Research in Perinatal Health and Women’s Health’, headed by Gérard Bréart, whose contribution to the PremUP Foundation is the long-term monitoring of children from the EPIPAGE cohort and his skill in the analysis of diagnostic or therapeutic strategies. 

 - Mixed Research Unit S 755 of the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) and UPMC ‘Nutriomics: Nutrition and obesity, genetic and transcriptomic approaches ’ headed by Karine Clément, who enjoys international recognition in the field of nutrition and metabolism and contributes to the PremUP Foundation with her expertise in the identification of biomarkers, bioinformatics, genotype-phenotype analysis and her knowledge of inflammatory mechanisms in adipose tissue.
