UNAM and Sorbonne University Sign a Deeper Partnership

Thierry Tuot, President of Sorbonne University and José Narro Robles, Rector of UNAM

Sorbonne University and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) signed a university cooperation agreement on Monday, March 30, 2015.

UNAM, the largest university in Mexico and Latin America, has chosen to establish its European office in Paris, on the historic site of the Cordeliers, in partnership with Pierre and Marie Curie University. The Center for Mexican Studies at UNAM was inaugurated on March 30th by José Narro Robles, Rector of the UNAM, and Jean Chambaz, president of Pierre and Marie Curie University in the presence of Agustín García-López Loaeza, the Mexican Ambassador.

Earlier in the day, an academic cooperation agreement was signed by Thierry Tuot, President of Sorbonne University and José Narro Robles, Rector of UNAM. This new stage in the cooperation between Mexico and France sealed a privileged strategic partnership between UNAM and Sorbonne University.*

This signature confirms the collaboration between UNAM and Sorbonne University with the goal to carry out joint academic activities, science and culture in areas of common interest, such as the exchange of researchers and young researchers (doctoral and post-doctoral students), professors, technical and administrative staff, and students as well as the organization of conferences, meetings and seminars on topics of common interest.

* Sorbonne University is a COMUE, a “community of universities and establishments” which includes research institutions and multi-disciplinary higher education covering a wide range of areas: science, engineering, medicine, arts and humanities.
