Presentation of UPMC

Pierre & Marie Curie University stands for French excellence in science and medicine. It is the 1st French university ranked in the Shanghai world ranking, the 5th European university in the ranking and 39th in the world. UPMC encompasses major subjects such as mathematics (1st in the world), chemistry (in the top 5), physics (in the top 10), electronics, computer science, mechanics, earth and environmental sciences, life sciences and medicine.

With over 400 million Euros allocated to research and 6,600 publications per year (approximately 10% of the French production), UPMC is a major player in international knowledge and innovation economy, as evidenced by its many international awards and medals. Due to the 3,250 teaching researchers of the 116 laboratories, UPMC has more than 20 patents filed each year and more than 250 cooperation agreements signed with prestigious universities worldwide. Partnerships with major French and international research organisations enhance the international appeal of UPMC and its participation is various international networks.

The 1st centre of scientific and medical education in France, UPMC offers its 30,000 students (of which 6,330 are foreign students) a demanding and diverse curriculum organised into 9 bachelors diplomas, 11 masters diplomasNouvelle fenêtre, 19 doctorate schools and provides them with the first French library center. It accompanies promotes study abroad schemes as a valuable educational and cultural asset by supporting the creation of 3 international bachelors, 16 international masters and 2 doctorate international programmes in partnership with universities worldwide in harmonization with courses already offered within European universities.
