International strategy

International Reputation

UPMC has close relationships with many foreign universities and is a leading player in prestigious European and international networks such as the UNICA, the LERU, EUA or AUF. It also relies on the Sorbonne University coalition to meet the new challenges of international development of education and research. It also participates very actively in European university collaboration programs (SOCRATES, FP).

Influential partnerships

UPMC has developed numerous scientific cooperation projects on every continent. It supervises, for example, the large TEMPUS program in North Africa. It also supports the development of joint international research laboratories with partners such as CNRS or INSERM.

A Commitment to Developing Countries

The University has a policy of dynamic cooperation activities with developing countries and particularly with the Francophone countries. It focuses on strengthening its alliance with Vietnam, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and North Africa.

Policy Direction of International Relations

In order to continue expanding international openness and the influence of our university in the world, UPMC will:

In Education

• Significantly increase the international mobility of students with the goal of quadrupling the figures achieved at the end of the last strategic plan
• Ensure a geographical diversification of foreign students, and particularly those European, by developing exchange programs across institutions and ensuring a quality service (information, social assistance, housing assistance, courses in French)
• Increase the internationalization of education by strengthening the administrative management support to facilitate the creation and monitoring of projects.

In Research

• Establish UPMC’s positioning within the European research and knowledge sector, by signing partnerships with European universities.
• Ensure better coordination of international cooperation between research organizations by encouraging and accompanying the different types of partnerships (GDRI, LIA, UMI).
• Ensure the status of international cooperation in research is regularly updated.
