Bachelor of Water Resources and Quality in the Environment (Vocational)

Water is a vital resource, which man is putting under more and more pressure. Rational usage of water implies a thorough knowledge of its environment and renewal. The vocational Bachelor of Water Resources and Quality in the Environment trains, through apprenticeship, professionals of water resource protection and management, of production and distribution of drinking water, and of collection and treatment of waste water. Graduates with this degree can apply to work for local authorities, research bureaus, consultancy firms and research and development and quality control services of companies for whom water is an essential resource.
Competence
These professionals work in the use and management of water resources. They must be capable of:
- contributing to the evaluation of water resources in a given sector;
- checking water quality in the natural environment;
- analyzing water in an industrial treatment chain;
- setting up environmental remediation procedures on given sites;
- ensuring the proper functioning of a sewage network or a treatment or water purification plant;
- helping design and put in place water management policies in accordance with national and international water quality regulations

The module associated with the apprenticeship (100 hours) includes supervised personal studies and lectures given by professionals, as well as guided tours of companies. A multidisciplinary internship will be set up in this module, run by specialists of biogeochemistry, hydraulics, hydrogeology and water treatment.

Admissions
Selection is made on examination of applicants’ files, followed by individual interviews. Enrolment in a UPMC CFA will not be made definite until signing of a contract of apprenticeship. The CFA helps in finding an appropriate company.
