ECH specialization (Continental Environments and Hydrosciences)

This specialization corresponds to the current evolution of research fields and areas of economic activity corresponding to the consideration of environmental issues in our world today. In these rapidly evolving fields, teacher training and introduction to research can address the ongoing challenges posed by the continental environment through an integrated approach between their main components: operations, management and protection of continental environments with their involvement in social sciences, physical chemistry of natural and disturbed functioning of ecosystems. An originality of this teaching on the importance scale changes in the functioning of land surfaces, from the molecular and mineralogical parcel of land or watershed to the implications for the global environment. This is a hot area and expanding at the crossroads of major fundamental and applied disciplines and whose stakes are considerable, both scientific and societal or economic. It is within this framework that aims to use this training, supplement and deepen the disciplinary acquired licenses. Teaching is based on the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, practical approaches and experimentation, field trips and site visits.

  • Acquisition of cultural knowledge enable a multidisciplinary approach of the Environment. This baggage includes tools and a coherent set of specialized knowledge about Earth system processes which is the seat and how human societies have changed and continue to change. It leads to an ability to analyze and model complex situations by implementing appropriate tools
  • Ability to search for information
  • Ability to implement a project team
  • Ability to communicate findings in French and in English

environment, hydrosciences, geosciences, remote sensing

The first year is common to all courses of the specialization and widely shared with the Geosciences specialization, to facilitate the acquisition of a synthetic training before the various courses of 2nd year of master. This requires an educational choice to reduce the coefficient on the internship.

Professional path:

  • remote sensing for environmental problems
  • Geographic Information Systems

Research path:

  • Hydrology - Hydrogeology
  • terrestrial biosphere (in common with Master of Agricultural Sciences, environment and landscape. Sustainability of Agroecosystems "INA PG)
  • Environment and Archaeology (in common with Paris 1 and 10 and MNHN)
  • soil: organization, operation and management (in common with the master "agricultural sciences, environment and landscape. Sustainability of Agroecosystems" INA PG)
Well-targeted public
  • M1: Students holding a Bachelor in Science of the Earth, biology, chemistry, physical chemistry or physics.
  • students in second or third year of ENSCP or INAPG that can be validated teaching units of the specialty as part of their schooling.
  • French graduates of the same level or as part of a validation of professional experience, after reviewing the application and interview with a candidate's education committee, who may ask any follow-up of further education. Nominations of persons eligible for individual training leave will be watched carefully. The lessons are organized into modules capitalized, allowing access to personal employee or job search, as part of continuing education.
