Master of Public Health and Social Sciences (M2)

This course in the field of public health is pertinent at the European level. Methods in epidemiology, biomathematics, public health, health management and clinical pharmacology are all covered, and specialized training is given in different health disciplines, in both the professional and research streams.

Organization

The course lasts one university year. It is composed of 300 hours of theoretical classes (30 ECTS credits) in the first part of the year and a 6-month research or professional internship with a host labratory or a pharmaceutical company. The theoretical classes are made up of individual papers each representing 20 to 60 hours on average (2 to 6 ECTS). The minimum number of credits varies between specializations.

Specificity: this master’s degree does not have a M1 year

Five M2 specializations are offered:

  • epidemiology
  • health, population, social policy
  • economics and management of health systems
  • health and social law
  • radionuclear, biological and chemical health risks (RNBC)

Classes take place from October through January. An internship and dissertation is obligatory.

Well-targeted public

There are three main groups eligible for this degree:

  • Doctors, pharmacists, dental-surgeons and veterinarians interested in being trained in information science, public health, pharmacology or in health marketing and management
  • Medical and pharmaceutical students in their 4th or 5th year
  • graduates with a bachelor of computer science, mathematics, economics, management, biology or an engineering diploma.

Student selection is assured by a teaching committee based on written applications. The course corresponds to the second year of a master’s degree and is designed for students with the equivalent of the 1st year of a master’s degree (honours, MSBM), and basic notions in epidemiology or biostatistics or clinical pharmacology, depending on the specialization concerned.

Admissions

Enrolment for master’s degrees takes place from mid-April to June.
