Biophysics specialization (M2 - BCM)

This pluridisciplinary specialization is at the interface between physics and biology. It aims to train students who master, as well as physics, the concepts and technologies of molecular and cellular biology, bioinformatics and chemistry, giving them the adaptability necessary for employment in research laboratories or industrial companies specialized in the field of life sciences.

Opportunities

This is a “research” specialization, so leads most naturally to a PhD in a public or private sector laboratory. Even so, employment can be found in the private sector with this master’s degree specialization. 

Organization

This specialization is designed to bring together students with different study backgrounds, so that they can experience pluridisciplinarity not only in terms of course content, but in their interaction with other students. The program is made up of four obligatory papers:

  • introduction to structural biology and bioinformatics
  • structure of macromolecules in solution
  • organized systems and membranes
  • physical methods of macromolecule study

and three optional papers.

Well-targeted public

This specialization accepts students who have completed the first year of their master’s (or an honour’s degree), and students from engineering schools.

Admissions

Master’s enrolment applications are open from mid-April to June.
