Nutrition, quality and health specialization

This is a specialization of the master's degree in Integrative biology and Physiology.

This specialization gives students the skills necessary to evaluate the future strategic, economic and social issues of nutrition. Issues covered include research and development, the analysis of food-quality-health relations, the preventive role of food, evaluation and expertise, regulatory issues and the analysis of food risks and how to master them.
This course qualifies:
1- institutional and industrial researchers in the fields of nutrition and human nutritional pathologies. It complements scientific, medical, paramedical and pharmaceutical diplomas.
2- “nutrition-quality-health” managers for industry, local authorities and consulting agencies. Positions of responsibility and management can be exercised within the food industry, catering, retail, the pharmaceutical and health industries and for nutritional education.

Well-targeted public

The specialty can accommodate 40 to 50 students who hold a degree in biology or a degree equivalent level. Students from the medical curriculum (doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists) and engineering schools can be integrated directly into M2 according to their training. Direct access to the M2 is possible by validating or by professional studies in the context of national regulations and procedures at UPMC.

Admissions

This specialization is open to students in the Bachelor of Science and Technology, Life Sciences mention of UPMC or an equivalent license from another university after validation of their course by the teaching staff. The orientation module developed in M1-S2 "integrated regulation of energy balance, interrelationship intestine, liver, adipose tissue, pancreas, muscle and central nervous system" is a compulsory module in M2 to integrate the courses offered by the specialty.
