Master of Mechanics (M1)
We hope that with a general knowledge of mechanics, a student can access a specialized course in acoustics, mechanics of materials and structures, civil engineering, robotics and fluid mechanics, energy and environment. Therefore, the M1 mechanics year constitutes a sort of specialization entitled Mechanical Science; it is followed in M2 by specializations which correspond (almost) to the M1 options.
Students may choose one of the following options:
- Acoustics
- Robotics
- Fluid mechanics
- Energy and Environment
- Mechanics of materials and structures
- Civil Engineering
A Nuclear Engineering option currently is being set up (in conjunction with the UPMC Master of Physics and Applications).
Keywords
Acoustics, robotics, fluids, energy, environment, mechanics, materials, structures, civil engineering
Organization
The year is structured as follows:
Common base papers (6 ECTS per paper) :
- Continuum mechanics (solids and fluids)
- Waves and vibrations
- Digital methods
Option papers
- Two papers at 6 ECTS
- Three papers at 3 ECTS to choose from a list
Others
- Project (6 ECTS)
- Internship (12 ECTS, minimum of three months)
- English (3 ECTS) and career prospects
Well-targeted public
Graduates with a Bachelor of mechanics, physics or possibly mathematics.
Admissions
Admission to the Master of Engineering is not automatic for Bachelor’s graduates: the candidate’s application file will be examined to verify that prerequisites are met (mechanics, digital methods, mathematics).
